Internet Toll Road?

advertisement

The issues raised in this article will be with us as long as common infrastructure (the stuff of natural monopolies) is operated by companies that can also provide services and compete with their customers.

It only makes sense that common infrastructure has to be provided on non-discriminatory terms to ALL service providers as a way to encourage competition and innovation.

The Internet was created by lots of companies and people creating a piece of it, but is in constant danger of being "owned" by the telcos which have conflicts of interest so long as they compete with their customers.

The architecture is just plain wrong.
